

Virginia Martha Maxwell, 92, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Springhill Village. She was born on August 20, 1921, in Terre Haute, to Adrien and Martha (Boss) Cornflos. She married Donavon Maxwell in 1944. She was a long-time member of Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church.
Virginia worked for many years in the housekeeping department at ISU. She also worked as a beautician out of a shop in the back of her house. She had a soft heart for animals, especially her dog, Ginger, and her cat, Mittens. Virginia doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She opened her home to many people. She will always be remembered as a kind and loving woman who would do anything to help anybody.
Virginia is survived by her grandchildren: Todd and Sandra Alkire, Becky Skaggs, Anthony Garver, Patrick Garver, and Emil Garver; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donavon Maxwell; a daughter, Marilyn Garver; grandson, William Alkire, Jr., and her parents, Adrien and Martha Cornflos.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 on Tuesday, February 25, at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 26, at the funeral home, with Pastor Kathy Roush officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
