

Virginia Rose Fairbanks Murphy Scott of Lexington, Kentucky, and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away Nov. 27, 2015, in Lexington, Kentucky. Virginia was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Terre Haute, to William and Helen Stewart Fairbanks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her three daughters, James H. Murphy; and her second husband, James R. Scott. Virginia was also preceded in death by her brother, William M. Fairbanks; and a sister-in-law, Freida Fairbanks. She is survived by her three daughters, Mary E. Barron of Lexington, Kentucky; and Peggy Solomon and her husband Gus, and Helen “Rene” Kester, all of Terre Haute. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Towns and her husband William, Jimmy Barron, Melissa Moore and her husband Christopher, Harry Barron Jr. and his wife Amy, and Sean Kester and his wife Tanya. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her forever friend, Shirley McCartney; and her daughter, Jane Totten.
She was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church. A special thank-you to Nakida Dunson and Hospice of the Blue Grass for the special care she was given.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dick Smith will be officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
