Obituary of Virginia "Gini" Pauline Spencer
Virginia “Gini” Pauline Spencer, 78, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Union Hospital. She was born June 22nd, 1943, in Rochelle, Illinois. Gini was preceded in death by her parents, John and Norma (Taft) Forbes, her biological parents, Eldon and Lula (Smith) Frederick, a brother Iven Frederick, and two nephews, Dewey and Cliff Yarber. Gini is survived by her brother, Jackie (Dang) Forbes, and sister, Evelyn (Cliff) Yarber. Also, a sister, Alice Fredrick, whom she never located after adoption. Also surviving are four children: Nadine (Yip) Kwok, Frank (Sharon) Deardurff, John Deardurff, and Matt Spencer, as well as seven grandchildren: Kelli (Kyle) Alford, Jessica (Trevor) Purcell, Maddison (Marcus Taylor) Spencer, Alicen Spencer, Molly Kwok, Thomas Spencer, and David Spencer. She has six great-grandchildren: Logan Alford, Amy Lambert, Reagan Alford, Mayleigh Taylor, Amiyah Spencer, and Juneau Taylor; two nieces: Melissa Forbes, and Daisy Mullins, and nephews: Dave (Wendy) Mullins and Buddy Mullins. Gini received her Master's in Social Work from West Virginia University late in life and worked several years as a therapist. Helping others was her passion, always putting others before herself. She loved her family dearly and never met a stranger. Wherever she went she always tried to share a smile or a compliment. She loved butterflies, the color purple and music. After retirement you could often find her playing bingo which she had a knack for winning. She attended Faith Wesleyan Church when her health would allow, as her strong faith was important to her. Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 4 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Council On Domestic Abuse (CODA) codaterrehaute.org.
