Burl attended Lamar High School in Clarksville, Arkansas and went on to attend the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, then to Christian Bible College in Springfield, MO and ultimately to Southwestern College in Waxahachie where he earned a Bachelor’s with a Seminary Degree in 1969. While at Southwestern he met the love of his life, DeAnna Chapman, and they were married in 1968. Burl and DeAnna started their family with the birth of Regina on April 20th, 1969. Then Clifford, born November 7th, 1970 and their third with Dwayne on June 24th, 1981. While in college, Burl was involved with youth ministries and the Royal Rangers. After college, Burl and DeAnna started their journey in pastoring at the Assembly of God Church in Madell, TX. They went on to pastor in Avon, N.C. and then to the Assemblies Headquarters in Dunn, N.C. where Burl was the State Youth Director. He was instrumental in building Camp Maranatha, a youth camp. He started from scratch, having to clear the property, create the roads, put up the buildings and develop the entire infrastructure. After returning to Texas, Burl became the headmaster at Rowlett Christian Academy. Burl was quick with a smile and always willing to help wherever he was needed. He was someone who loved to fix things and seemed to always have something to work on, whether it was a tractor or a car. He left a lasting impression from the first introduction and you knew when you met him, he had a love for life. Burl was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Foster and sisters Glenda and Kay. Burl is survived by his wife DeAnna Wright, children Regina Wright, Clifford Wright and Dwayne & daughter-in-law Rebekah Wright and sister Janet Bridges (brother-in-law James).

God will link the broken chain, as one by one we meet again. In our hearts he will always stay, Loved and remembered every day.

Christine and I want to send our love and prayers to the Wright family. Burl made such a lasting impression on me and was nothing but a kind, loving and wise counselor. I sat in his Sunday School class for several years and soaked in not only his knowledge, but his spirit like a sponge! I wrote several of his quotes in my Bible. One of his quotes on 9-3-1995 said, "We all want mountaintop experiences, but even the farmer knows that crops grow in the valley. We grow in Christ not on the mountain, but in the valley."

Burl, DeAnna and Dwayne were so special to us and we miss you all dearly! Thank you for sharing your husband and father with me and my wife. We are better for it! I am certain there are hundreds of lives he touched over the years that are better for having met and associated with Burl. Our hearts are sad, our loss is great, yet heaven has gained a prince!

Burl was as good and godly a man as I've known. When I first met him, years ago, he was the usher in charge of the section I sat in at Church on the Rock in Rockwall. He radiated the love and peace and joy of Jesus in every conversation. I look forward to long talks with him in eternity.
