Dolores Marie Ernst, 85, of Canton, Texas passed away peaceably on July 17, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 9, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to Robert Lee Farley and Vernie Shepherd Farley.
Dolores grew up in Mesquite Texas. She graduated from Mesquite High School where she was active in band and basketball. In 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Ernst. Robert joined the army and for the first two years of marriage, the couple lived in Washington State. Dolores worked as a secretary for General Electric in Essential Materials Division. After Robert was discharged the couple moved back to Texas. They lived the last 22 years in Canton. Dolores was active in politics and was a political watchdog. She loved to read, cook and bake. Dolores was known for her “Wesson Oil Cake”. Every Thursday you could find Dolores at the hair salon with her friends talking, laughing and getting her hair done. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dolores will be missed by her family and friends.
Dolores is survived by her loving husband, Robert Ernst; daughter, Kim Lane; granddaughters, Jennifer and spouse, Rachel Laird, Aimee and spouse, Jonathan Harrell; great grandchildren, Heidi Harrell, Adda Laird, Jesse Laird and Sloane Laird; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Vernie Farley; son, Philip Ernst.
