A memory from my childhood prompted me to look up the Alaniz family. I am heartbroken to learn the news of Gabriel’s passing. I remember him being such a sweet kid. My deepest condolences to the family for this loss.

Day by day I think of you,
How can all of this be true?
I can’t believe you’re really gone,
I still can’t accept it,
Even after so long.
Just the thought of you makes me cry,
I never even got the chance to say goodbye.
Every picture, every letter,
I don’t know if it will ever get better.
I always smell your familiar scent,
It makes me think of all of the times we’ve spent.
I know we didn’t always get along,
And every time we talked, it would always go wrong.
So many things I never got to say,
I never imagined you’d ever be so far away.
You were my brother,
And I loved you like no other.
In my heart you’ll always be,
You’ll be my guide and help me see.
I’ll never forget your soothing voice,
I would take your place if I had a choice.
But now I have to let you rest,
Although without you my world’s a mess.
I miss you with all of my heart,
I wish we never had to part.
I know you’re always by my side,
So for now baby brother till I see you again later. I love you forever your sister Flora

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Gabriel as well as Sophia and Rosalinda from McWhorter Elementary where I taught 2nd grade. What a beautiful, loving family. Still remembering Gabriel's mischievous smile. I know his passing has left a hole in your hearts. May God reach out with his healing grace.

My heartfelt condolences to the Alaniz family. I didn't know Gabe very well, I would see him at the gym. He seemed to be a very kind person. Always smiling and pleasant to be around. I am sure he will be very much missed by all who knew him well.

Although I didn't know Gabriel personally, my heart is broken. Not only because of the loss of an Alaniz family member, but because two loving parents have lost a treasure, and a part of their hearts. You can tell a lot about a person by their pictures and what others have taken the time to say. Gabriel's pictures show his love of family, and his love of life shines through. The comments show that Gabriel will not only be missed by his family & friends, his love and spirit will be missed far beyond his hometown. I know words can not possibly give the comfort that is intended, but know that you are in our hearts and prayers.

Our sweet little boy, you were the light of our world. Our hearts will forever be broken. Our world will never be the same without you. We thank God for bringing you into our lives and for the little while we were together. We will hold on to our memories and to the love you left behind. Your life will continue within us. Daddy is going to miss the big hugs and Mommy is going to miss your sweet kisses. We will never say goodbye, we will only say “later”. We will see you again. The love we shared together, you will take with you. Mom and Dad will always love you to the moon and back. Later mijo, we love you so much.

My favorite memory of Gabriel is him being that sideline Dad at my niece Frances’ soccer games when she was younger. His laugh was something but hearing him “cheer” for frances was even louder! He was that overly cheerful father on the sidelines! I loved it! And I will never forget it! He was a great man, a great father, and will be dearly missed by many...I can just hear him laughing now as I think about in peace Gabriel

I had the pleasure of getting to know Gabriel at our apartment downtown. Gabriel was always smiling and in a great mood.
Me and my wife miss Gabriel very much. His family and and my brothers and sisters in Blue are in my thoughts.
We will always remember the good times we had with him.
