I remember as a young child going around the corner from my parents house in Mesquite to visit Helen and Joe! Always very sweet to us kids. My dad always loved visiting her in Terrell before he passed in 2018. He would have been sad to here she passed. RIP sweet lady!

I met Helen when she first came to Windsor and I introduced myself, and after a pretty good chat, she said " Barbara, it was so good talking with you." For some reason I didn't correct her, thinking she would forget my name by the next time I saw her. She didn't, EVERY time I saw her she would say "Hi Barbara!" She was so sharp! I always enjoyed stories about her work during the war, she had such an interesting life. And no matter how she felt, she would always have something kind to say about my Mom. I hadn't seen her since March, when covid closed the NH, but I hope she knew how much I loved and respected her.

I would sing for the residents at Windsor and Miss Rainey was one of my regulars. She had told me one time that she took her shower early so she could make it to my show. She was such a sweet and wonderful lady! She loved my mom and stepdad and said she missed them since they had passed away. Miss Rainey would always ask me how my grandkids were doing so when we would visit our friend Kevin at Windsor we always made a stop at her room on our way out and visit with her for a bit. She will surely be missed. Prayers to the family and may she rest in peace.
