Ida Faye Gunstanson, age 83, of Terrell, Texas, was welcomed home into Heaven on July 29, 2020. Ida Faye’s death was due to complications from COVID-19 and pneumonia. She was born March 23, 1937 to loving parents Jeanie Mae Waites Lambeth and William Arch Lambeth in Terrell, Texas. Ida Faye graduated from Terrell High School in 1955 and received her associate’s degree from Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas. After marrying the love of her life, William Owen Gunstanson (Bill) in 1968, the loving couple resided in Terrell, Texas and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Ida Faye is survived by her brother Paul Lambeth and wife Nancy of Oklahoma; daughter Jan Gunstanson of Quinlan, Texas; daughter Nona Rosa and husband David, grandsons Caleb and Noah of Carrollton, Texas; stepsons and stepdaughter Jesse Gunstanson and wife Michelle of Athens, Texas; Gene Gunstanson and wife Vicki of Athens, Texas; Jere Gunstanson and wife Debra of Athens, Texas; Diann Touchon of Athens, Texas and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ida Faye was preceded in death by her parents Arch and Jeanie Mae Lambeth, husband William Owen (Bill) Gunstanson, daughter Ginger Rasbury of Fayetteville, Arkansas, stepson WO Gunstanson, Jr. of Athens, Texas, brothers and sisters: Irby Lambeth, George Lambeth, Nona Lambeth, Lucile Lambeth, Angus Lambeth, William Lambeth and of course, her beloved dog Bojett.
Ida Faye retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield and choose to work as a stay at home mom. She was active in her church and her children’s school activities. She attended every one of their Terrell High School football games and concerts, and was their fun-loving chaperone during school outings. You would often see Ida Faye driving the church van to pick up elderly church members and bring them to bible study, or getting ready on a Sunday morning for puppet ministry for the youth. During the week, you could find Ida Faye at the high school working with the special needs children. When Bill and Ida became empty nesters, they were traveling, going to local auctions and setting up shop at the local trades day. Ida was always helping others. In her last years, she could be found counseling others at the memory care facility where she resided and assisting them on how to overcome life’s challenges.
Ida Faye was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She lives on in the lives she has touched. She was spunky, loving, caring and generous. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you order dinner and desert for your family at your favorite restaurant,spend this time together and remember as Ida Faye would often say, “Eat a bit for you and a bite for me”.
