Jerry Don Jones, of Elmo, passed away June 30, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 26, 1936 to E.P. and Edna Mae (Wallis) Jones who both preceded him in death along with his daughter, Jennifer Jones. Jerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his time spent with them was made better when he was watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He loved the outdoors and his true passion and enjoyment was found at his deer lease hunting deer or when he was out fishing. Most of his career was spent driving trucks with Sexton Transport Co. and recently he had worked as a security guard with Madix. Jerry had a great sense of humor and he also made sure that each person knew how much he cared for them. It didn’t matter if you were a friend for years or someone he just met, his ability to always accept and love unconditionally was a testament to his ability to live his motto: “I love anybody and everybody”. Even during his recent hospital stays, he was quick to keep a positive attitude that helped others ahead of himself. A true gentleman and the epitome of selfless love, Jerry will be greatly missed by all who were honored to know him. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Jones, of Elmo; daughter, Julie Rumbo of Canton; grandchildren: Shanna Morris and husband, Heath, of Martins Mill; Jeremy Williamson of Tyler, Ashley Williamson of Canton; great grandchildren: MacKenzie Crow, John Garrett Crow, Alyssa Crow and one expected great grandchild, Henlee Morris; siblings: Jimmy Jones and wife, Janie, of Mesquite, Rose Wolfe of Lone Oak and Linda Clark of Rowlett as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Funeral service will be at 11:00am, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 2, at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their gratefulness to the staffs of Grace Hospice in Tyler and Canton Oaks Nursing Home for their unfailing compassion and their dedication to Jerry. They truly were all angels on Earth.
