Jerry David Wilson, age 65, died in his home on June 18, 2014 after a lengthy illness surrounded by friends and family. Born July 12, 1948, Jerry was the only child of the late Lennie A. Wilson, Jr. and Lois Bryant Wilson of Terrell. He graduated from Terrell High School in 1966 and later attended Henderson County Junior College. In December of 1966, Wilson was deployed to Vietnam with the United States Army 2nd Ranger Batallion, 94th artillery. He served bravely garnering two Bronze Stars and two Purple Heart Awards. After being evacuated by a medical helicopter in Vietnam, Wilson was honorably discharged in November 1969 as an E5. After his service to our country, Wilson met his late wife, Bonnie Papen Wilson and they were married in Texas on January 17, 1970 and then again on March 24, 1970 in Camdenton, Missouri. This union lasted 29 years and Jerry is survived by their only child, Melanie Dawn Wilson of Terrell. Jerry was a well respected rancher and businessman. He owned and operated several small businesses in the Terrell community including Wilson Construction and later Jerry Wilson Trucking. The family will host a visitation at the Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Terrell on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 6 to 8PM. Funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Friday, June 20, 2014 with interment following at the Elmo Cemetery. The family requests that all memorials be made to the A. Jerry leaves behind a host of friends and family that will always remember him for his larger than life personality, his jokes, sense of humor, generosity and unwavering love.
