Joni Welch

December 13, 1960October 12, 2020

Joni Dee Welch, 59, passed away in her home Monday, October 12, 2020.

Joni was a woman of many titles — wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, and her favorite of all, GiGi.

She loved spending time with her family, friends, and grandkids and hosting events at her home. She always made everyone feel welcome with her warm embrace. Joni enjoyed cooking for those she loved and was known for her homemade food and sweet tea. She was the ultimate caregiver, always doing for others before herself, and never without a smile.

Joni was a talented artist with a creative soul.

Joni married Thomas Welch in November 1982. They had two daughters, Britney and Cassidy. She was the proudest GiGi to her four grandbabies. Her bond with her children and grandchildren was undeniable, and she always showed up for them no matter what.

She was a mom to many and was the "fun" mom everyone wanted to be around.

Joni is survived by her husband of 37 years, Thomas Welch; daughter Britney Clark and husband Chad; daughter Cassidy White and husband Klay; grandchildren Presley and Swayze Clark and Brody and Beckham White; her mother, Jodie Mewborn; and sisters Dana Jordan and Terri Mewbourn; and countless other family, friends and kids she considered her own. She was greeted in heaven by her father Jack Mewbourn, best friend and brother Ray Schmidt, Uncle Edd Deen, and Big Dan Pool.

There will be a celebration of Joni's life on Sunday, October 25 from 1-4 p.m. at the Rusted Rail Golf Club located at 1602 US-175 in Crandall, TX.

Joni was passionate about her love for animals, so in lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to local animal rescue Good Shepherd Rescue of Texas. Joni had a personal connection to the rescue, so please mention that it's a memorial donation in honor of Joni.

All though I did not have the privilege of knowing Joni that well. Whenever we were around her it always felt like we were old friends. She always had a big smile and a warm hug for me.

My thoughts and prayer for her family and mine.

Love you all!

Have known and loved Joni and her family most of her life. As she and sisters and my kids grew up, lost most personal contact but I always knew about them thru her mom Jodie. Thru Jodie's illness, we began a continual contact again. Was so impressed at what a wonderful selfless woman she had become. A true caregiver for Cassidy and Jodie. Probably others. GOD HAS A SPECIAL PLACE FOR HER

I still can't believe this true and you are gone. I will never forget the fun we would have on Friday nights at the football games when our girls were cheering on the field. We would laugh and cheer along trying our best to embarrass them. :)

No one was ever a stranger in your home, you made sure everyone felt welcomed. I will miss your smile every time we saw each other. And your laugh when we reminisced about something we had done years ago.

You will not be forgotten my friend.
I love you

I will miss my cousin, Joni, so very much. She was one of my dad's, Edd Deen, favorite gals. Called her Big Red! Her heart was infinitely warm and open to everyone. Her love of animals goes back to when she was a little girl! Her dad and my mom are brother and sister so we grew up spending holidays together and visiting each other's homes. We had a lot of fun as kids and I will miss having her to share those memories. My heart hurts for her loss and how much Thomas and the entire family is going to miss her.......particular her grandchildren whom she adored.
