

Gene McHone, 86, of Terrell, was ushered into heaven on July 30th at 3:40pm. He was born on September 1, 1928 to Elijah & Grace Rushing McHone. Gene was the 4th of 5 children and grew up on the family’s farm in Trenton, Texas. After graduating from Trenton High School in 1947, he moved to Dallas and lived with Roy and Doris McHone. While roller skating he met Dixie Burns and their relationship began. He was drafted into the Army and served as a Corporal. He operated a field radio and was a warrant officer during the Korean War. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Dixie. On September 30, 1955, Their daughter, Gena Lynn, was born, and on November 11, 1958, their son, Mark Everitt was born. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, working around his farm, playing 42 & farkle, and spending time with his family. His hard work ethic and playful personality endeared him to everyone who knew him. He partnered with his brother to build a thriving sheet metal shop where he worked for 25 years. He was always involved in a local Assembly of God church wherever he lived. He was dearly loved by his wife of 63 years, loved by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Elijah & Grace McHone, his brothers, Roy and Noel McHone, and sister, Marie Kiebel. Those left to celebrate his memory are: his devoted wife, Dixie McHone; Gena (daughter) & Ron Radcliff of Rockwall, Tiffany (Granddaughter) & John Burch and their son Asher of Wylie, Hailey Radcliff (Granddaughter) and her children Tatum and Scarlett of Rockwall; Mark (son) & Donna McHone of Rockwall, Jordan (Grandson) & Samantha McHone and their Sons Sean & and Ryan of Dayton, OH, Evan (grandson) & Shantelle McHone of Siloam Springs, AR, Ainslee (granddaughter) & Derek DeMars of Rockwall, Mark Hayden McHone (grandson) of Rockwall; Sister Joyce White, of Cedar Hill; as well as nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of good friends. Funeral service will be at 3:00pm, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with a private interment to follow.
