Schantz, Letty Lou (Moxley), 83, of Forney, TX passed away September 25, 2015. Visitation will be Mon 9/28 6-7 p.m with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. and funeral services on Tues 9/29 at 11:00 both being held at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Forney. There will be a graveside service and interment at the Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax VA. Letty was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Scranton, PA where she grew up. She attended Drexel University and graduated with honors in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. In 1973 she received her Master of Arts degree from Texas Women’s University with a major in Early Childhood Education and in 1981 received her Doctor of Philosophy degree from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce) with a major in Reading and a minor in Interdisciplinary Education. During her 38 year career in education she taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Gifted and Talented and was a Reading Specialist before retiring in 1993. She always said her greatest achievements were; being married to Herbert F. Schantz, they were blessed to have celebrated their 50th anniversary in June 2004 prior to his death in Nov. that same year and the joy of being a partner in parenting two adopted daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents Reed T. and Bernice E (Wilson) Moxley and sister Jean B. (Moxley) Gant. She is survived by daughters Anne Wood of Terrell, TX and Felice Hay, son-in-law Skip Hay, grandchildren Lindsey Braswell and Justin Hay all of Forney, TX; brother-in-law Howard Gant of Warminister, PA; nephew Kenneth Gant, wife Cindy, great-nephews Philip, Gregory, Zachary, and great-niece Alyson all of Furlong, PA. In lieu of flowers the family has designated memorial contributions be made to Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church – Building Fund or Heart to Heart Hospice of Carrolton, Texas. The family wishes to thank you for your kind expressions of sympathy and many acts of kindness during this difficult time. Lord, for Your faithful people life is changed not ended. When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven.
