
Marian Jordan Shumpert, of Terrell, passed away April 16, 2015 surrounded by loving family. Marian was born Oct. 8, 1921 in Oklahoma to Richard and Willie Jordan, both of whom preceded her in death along with her beloved husband, Lewis Shumpert, brothers: Fred Jordan and Frank Jordan and sister, Eddie Jean McNew. Marian was a very active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Terrell and her involvement included teaching first grade Sunday school for many years. She also was instrumental with establishing the First Baptist Church historical center so that archived records and artifacts could be readily enjoyed by church members and citizens of Terrell. By influencing and teaching children in the Lord’s way as well as protecting the heritage and history of First Baptist, Marion was a tireless contributor to so many past and future generations. Marian leaves to cherish her legacy her nieces and nephews: Jenna Nell Ortolani and husband, Bill of Terrell, Joe P. Pedigo and wife, Miriam of Plano, Jim S. Pedigo and wife Jaymie of McKinney, Julie Ann Wisenan and husband, Tom, of Grand Prairie, Jeanne Beth Hartline and husband, James of Carrollton, Ga., Debbie Clark of Terrell, Robert Shumpert of Terrell, Greg Shumpert and wife Suzanne of Terrell; sisters-in-law: Katherine Shumpert, Martha K. Shumpert, both of Terrell as well as several other extended family, friends, and loving church family that will miss her dearly. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Saturday, April 18, at the funeral home. In lieu of floral tributes, the family asks that contributions in Marian’s name be made to the Kaufman County Veterans Memorial Park, PO Box 1273, Kaufman, TX, 75142.
