Maximo (Max) Salazar, Jr., age 69, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Max was born October 7, 1949 in San Diego, Texas to Maximo Salazar, Sr. and Francisca Trejo Salazar. He loved God, his family, the military, flying helicopters, the United States and the great state of Texas. He proudly served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. Max was an avid photographer, taking countless pictures of his grandchildren, lightning storms and chasing tornadoes. He enjoyed coaching his daughters in softball and continued to coach after his girls were grown. Max loved smoking briskets and turkeys for all the family occasions. His greatest love, however, was spending time with his wife, kids, grandchildren and extended family.
Max was preceded in death by his mother, Francisca Salazar and sister, Rebecca Argentina Salazar. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Parks-Salazar; daughters, Melisa Salazar and husband Ruben Falcon, Samantha Salazar Rogers and husband David Rogers and Katherine Salazar; sisters, Elida Stembridge, Sylvia Salazar Miller, Rosario Salazar Garcia and Diana Salazar Estep; brothers, Adrian Salazar, Abel Salazar, Daniel Salazar, Adam Salazar and Lee Salazar; grandchildren, Brianna Cruz, Anthony Rodriguez, Damien Falcon, Bailey Rogers, Lillianna Falcon and Isabella Falcon; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Military graveside services will be held 9:30 am Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. If friends so desire, memorial contributions in Max’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
