Octavia Gonzalez “Vita”, 76, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on January 21, 2016 in Terrell, Texas. She was born in El Remolino Mexico on September 16, 1939 to Maximiano Reyes and Maria Altamirano. In 1955, Octavita married Tomas Gonzalez, and spent 50 wonderful years together. From that union came 9 children. Vita was an avid gardener and always looking forward to the spring time so she can get all new flowers for her garden, her dedication to her garden and flowers helped her win the ‘yard of the month’ award. While spending time outside and gardening she liked to be around her cats. When Vita was not gardening she loved being with her family, always wanting to surround herself with her grandchildren, and putting them before herself. They enjoyed coming together every year to cook tamales and spend time together. Her family will always remember her by her love for flowers, her amazing cooking and the way she always wanted her house nice and clean. Octavia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons, Everardo and Tomasito, and a grandson, Juanito Gonzalez. She is survived by her children: Armando and wife Fay of Terrell, Texas, Juan and ex Evelia Gonzalez of Terrell, Texas, Jorge and wife Maria of Terrell, Texas, Hector and wife Maribel of Terrell, Texas, Eduardo of Terrell, Texas; her two daughters, Luz Maria Galindo and husband Ramiro of Eagle Pass, and Isabel Castaneda and husband Javier of Terrell Texas, and her daughter in law, Edna Gonzalez of Mabank, her brothers; Pedro Reyes, of Mexico, Maximiano Reyes of Mexico, Jesus Reyes of Houston, and Polo Reyes of Houston, and her sisters; Josefa Martinez of Houston, Morayma Cardona of Mexico, and Rosa Amelia Delgado of Mexico. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two on the way and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. A gathering for family and friends will be held at 6p.m. on Sunday January 24, 2015 at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral home in Terrell, Texas with a rosary at 7p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10a.m. on Monday January 25, 2015 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Terrell, Texas. A burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
