The Army moved Paul to Texas in the ’40s where he has remained a proud Texan ever since. Paul is considered to be a member of “the greatest generation” as he served in the Army Air Corp as a B-17 Navigator in WWII on the European Front and as an aircraft mechanic. After serving his country, Paul worked in the engineering, electronics, and mechanics fields until his retirement at the age of 92. Paul enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, playing dominos with his church buddies, tinkering with small engines, and enjoying God’s great-outdoors, especially if it meant he was fishing. He was also an active member of the Taking of Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Club in Quinlan for over 20 years. Although he was a member of TOPS, Paul could frequently be found visiting with his friends at the Dairy Queen or satisfying his sweet tooth by stopping in somewhere to purchase a chocolate donut or a 3 Musketeers Bar, a love passed on to his grand and great-grandchildren. Paul was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point. He was a longtime resident of Quinlan until this past May when he and his wife moved to Idalou to be cared for by his son’s family. The only three things he loved more than his hobbies and his sweets were his family; his wife of 58 years, Edwynna; and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
