Betty Ruth LeGrand, 68, of Texarkana, AR passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 with her family at her side.She finally lost her courageous battle with cancer after 7 years. Betty was born on January 13, 1946 in Texarkana, TX. She graduated Liberty Eylau High school in 1963, where she earned the long held nickname "Pudge". Betty was a devoted housewife, mother, and grandmother who rarely missed a baseball, football, or softball game. Betty's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quality of time in which one lives.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Letitia and Frank Bowerman and dear sister-in-law, Bella Bowerman of Tucson, AZ.
Survivors included her husband of 48 years Andrew LeGrand III of Texarkana, AR,; daughter, Shannon LeGrand of Little Rock, AR; son and daughter-in-law, Angela and Drew Legrand of Texarkana, ; two grandsons, Andrew and Peyton Legrand; two brothers, Don Bowerman of Tucson, AZ and James Bowerman and his wife Melba of Texarkana, TX, sister, Patsy Crittenden of Texarkana, AR; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Linda and Don LeGrand of Bastrop, LA and Nina LeGrand of Texarkana, AR and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial mass will be 10am Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at St Edwards Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Worm and Deacon David Fowler officiating.
Cremations arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown
A rosary will be recited 6pm Tuesday, October 7, 2014 with visitation to follow from 6:30 to 8pm at East Funeral Home-Downtown.
In leiu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice of Texarkana.
After the mass family will be at #4 Cedar Terrace, Texarkana, AR.
