

Betty Lou Vickers Taylor, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Hospice of Texarkana, Texas after a brief illness. Betty was born in Lillie, Louisiana (Union Parish) on December 10, 1929 to Verda McAdam Vickers and Frank Vickers of Lockhart, Louisiana. She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 50 years, Jim Henry Taylor, who she married on July 5, 1947 after she had waited for him to return from World War II.
Besides her parents and her husband, Betty was predeceased by siblings Audrey Vickers (Merle Denton) of Bastrop, LA; Marguerite Vickers Manning (Doyle) of Spearsville, LA; Ruth Ann Vickers Thomas of Spearsville, LA; James Calvin Vickers (Helen Nale Vickers) of Lockhart, LA; and Bobby Gene Vickers of Bastrop, LA. She was also predeceased by sisters-In-law Effie Lee Gulley (Charles), Billie Jean Crow (DeWitt), Sylvia Rocket (Dale), Shirley Taylor and brothers-in-law Willie Emmett Taylor, and Carl Taylor, as well as her grandson, Michael Jason Berry. She is survived by brother-in-law Jerry Taylor of Farmerville, LA, and sisters-in-law Annie Mae Vickers of Bastrop, LA, and Ruby Taylor of Farmerville, LA.
Betty is also survived by her three children, Donna Delane Taylor Berry and her husband, Mike, of Texarkana, TX; Jimmy Franklin Taylor and his wife, Chris, of Rowlett, TX; and Theresa Renee Stanley and her husband, Mike, of Arlington,TX. She is survived by grandchildren Andrea Leigh Berry Stanley (Brandon) of Fayetteville, AR; James Patrick Taylor of Rowlett, TX; Cole Maurice Stanley (Audrey) of Fort Worth, TX; and Clark Henry Stanley (Aven Jackson) of Leander, TX. She is also survived by great grandson Damon Lee Stanley (Raeann) of Mansfield, TX and great-great grandchildren Caden Lee and Isabella Lois Stanley, a host of nieces and nephews, which she loved like her own, and a plethora of friends. Also, her favorite “adopted” daughter, Sandra Bice of Fayetteville, AR.
After Betty’s marriage to Jim, they moved to Bastrop, LA for Jim’s job with International Paper. During Jim’s tenure with IP, they lived in Natchez, MS; Ferriday, LA, and Atlanta, TX. After Jim’s retirement, they settled back in their hometown of Farmerville, LA. Betty was raised a Christian and loved being an active member of her churches, where she enjoyed listening to and singing classic hymns. She also loved fishing and traveling. Betty loved watching basketball and she enjoyed reminiscing about her time as a high school basketball player. Later in life, Betty’s pride and joy was her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Betty will be cremated with arrangements being handled by East Funeral Home on Moores Lane in Texarkana, TX
A celebration of life will be held in Farmerville, Louisiana at a later date.
