

Bill Ernest Slade Jr., age 85, of Tyler, Texas passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. He was born on September 3, 1939 in Truxno, LA, Mr. Slade was retired chemical engineer vice president of manufacturing at Firestone Polymer Company, a veteran of the U S Air Force. He was a registered professional engineer, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Eta Sigma, Pi Mu Epsilon, American Legion, past member of Orange Lions, Orange Rotary Club, United Way of Orange County Board, Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas,Inc. executive committee, Arnold Air Society at LSU ROTC. In college he was a top ten graduate at LSU in the college of engineering.
Preceded in death by his parents Bill and Loucine Slade, sister, Gertrude Miller and brother Ellis Slade, two nephews, Jimmy Miller and Mike Miller and one niece Debbie Fagen.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Karen Slade of Tyler, TX; daughter Susan Nicole Berry and husband David of Lake Charles, LA; son Christopher Slade and his wife Anne of Texarkana, TX; four grandchildren, Hogan Berry, Reagan Berry and his wife Rachel, Cole Slade and Blake Slade; great grandchild, Peter Berry; three nephews, Dickey Miller and wife Adina, Kevin McKinney and wife Annette and Greg McKinney and wife Rachel.
Funeral service will be 2pm Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Conway Baptist Church, Conway, LA under the direction of East Funeral Home-Moores Lane. Burial will be in Conway Cemetery, Conway, LA.
Family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Wednesday, January 29th at the church.
