Dawn McMurphy passed away November 11, 2018, at home in Charlotte NC. Dawn was born January 18, 1962 in Texarkana. Dawn was a wonderful daughter and lived by the Golden Rule. She was generous to family and friends. She grew up in Wake Village, attended TISD schools and then graduated magna vim laude from the University of Texas, Austin with a degree in Management/Accounting. She obtained her CAP certification and accepted a position with Neiman-Marcus Corporate Office where she worked almost twenty years before her health began to deteriorate and forced her retirement. She married in 1993 and in 2002 adopted an eight-month old Angel from China, named her Paige Yin Chen. She is now a beautiful sixteen year old Angel and the delight of all her family, especially her Mother. Dawn devoted most of her time to Paige, but she became active in the campaign to abolish Family Court in NC.

Dawn and I were friends from 7th grade at Westlawn and throughout our years at Texas High, serving on drill team together. Dawn had an infectious smile and was always an outstanding student. I’ll never forget our parents allowing us to have a Christmas dance at Northridge Country Club in 9th grade! What memories! We lost touch over the years, but I’ll always remember her fondly. I am so sorry for your loss... Sincerely, Julie Kunkel Patterson

Heartbroken at this sad news. I will lift up her family in prayers of comfort and peace. I pray for God’s grace and love to surround them in the days ahead. Dawn had such a sweet soul and a generous heart. Her smile would light up a room. The Dawn I knew loved to laugh, she loved to dance, and she was a good hugger. She was tenacious when she needed to be and she was a fierce UT Longhorn fan! We shared many happy memories together in high school and college. I wish we could have talked more. I will miss her❤️

God took my Angel to a wonderful place. My heart aches, but we have assurance we will be together again. I love you so much. Momma

To the family of Dawn, I want to express how sorry I am for the passing of Dawn. We were friends from Jr. High to college to early 20's. I am so shocked and saddened. I lost contact with her for many years but heard from her some on Facebook. Please let us know when the service will be.
