Eddie Ray spent his last years caring for the love of his life, his “Bevver”, through her 15 year battle with dementia. He gave the end of his life to caring for hers, surrounding her with love at home, and said he would do it “100 times again”. They were a team, and over the years they loved being together drinking coffee on the porch, camping, spending time with family, working in the yard, decorating for Christmas, or going from town to town antiquing.
Eddie had an eternally positive outlook on life and an unyielding faith in God. He had a slogan that he lived by: “Without gratitude, you get an attitude”. He never missed an opportunity to pray with someone—whether family, a friend, or a stranger in the grocery store. He loved old things and was a Texarkana history buff. He was meticulous, and believed that anything worth doing was worth doing the right way, every time. He loved hot coffee, family, genealogy, dates and pictures. He leaves behind a treasure of collections, trinkets, stories, and memories, along with a big family who will carry his legacy forward, cherish his example, and miss him every day.
The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to Hospice of Texarkana and his sitter, Anita Roy, for their love, dedication, and support during his care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to this facility or Christ Church. Services will be held at Christ Church on 5204 South Rondo Road in Texarkana, Arkansas on Tuesday August 4, 2026 with visitation beginning at 11:30a.m. immediately followed by the service at 1:00p.m. Graveside services will be at East Memorial Gardens on Hwy 67 North.
