

She was born December 24, 1929 in Stuttgart, Germany. Her parents were Emil and Marta Ludwig Strobel. She was a member of Cross Pointe Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Julious Eitel of Vilonia, AR and Harold Wilde of Hendersonville, NC.
Elfriede attended LBA University in Esslingen, Germany, receiving a Pediatric Nursing degree, and graduated from the Maya Flad Business School in Stuttgart, Germany. She worked in Edinburg, Scotland, for her father's business associates for several years and came to the United States in 1957. She retired from the University of Central Arkansas in 1990 and moved to North Carolina in 1995. She loved to travel, meet new people and experience new cultures. She traveled extensively in Europe, the United States, Mexico, and Canada. She was a member of the Texarkana USA Genealogical Society, a member of the Arkansas Genealogy Hall of Fame, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and belonged to several historical and genealogical associations. She published two award winning family histories, as well as numerous articles in several genealogy journals. Her last book publication was "Buried Soul, a Story of Survival." She also worked with the History Workshop of the Stuttgart Newspaper in Stuttgart, Germany for many years.
She is survived by her son Jeff Eitel and wife Marilyn.
Grandchildren Leslie Bloxom and husband Michael and Jeremy Eitel and wife Shawna. Also survived by great granddaughters Madalyn and Caroline Bloxom and Keira and Jill Taylor.
