On December 31, 1950, at a small hospital in Simla, Colorado, the 11th baby of the Bill and Flora Link family was born. A baby girl, the sixth daughter, was named Genevieve LaVerne. Genni was the “baby” of this large family for ten years until her youngest sibling, Debbie was born.
Genni’s years of education took place in Kiowa, Colorado where she graduated from Kiowa High School with eleven classmates in 1968. From high school, she entered the business world in Denver; marketing was her strength.
In 1969, Genni and Alan Brewer were married for a brief period of time.
Genni’s first son, Dustin Lee Link, was born in 1977. Genni married Ken Bloch; Dustin was adopted by Ken and Dustin Richard Bloch was his given name. Cory Michael was born in 1980. This busy family lived in the Denver area until their marriage ended.
The next chapter of Genni’s life included marriage to Darrell Mayhew, who had three sons from a previous marriage. They moved to Texas where Genni was employed with American Airlines. Their marriage ended in 2008.
Genni remained in Texas and enjoyed a variety of job experiences including Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, Prison Ministry, Dignity Memorial and lastly Home Health Care. Genni will be remembered as a compassionate and supportive caregiver in these roles. Her deep passions included the Prison Ministry and her church family.
Genni was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Flora Link and her brother Phil Link, niece Karolyn Yattaw and nephew Luke Franklin.
She is survived by her two sons Dustin (Kayla) Bloch and Cory Bloch. Genni’s grandchildren include Kelsey and Bryce Bloch, step grandchildren Brett Daughtery and Gabbie Gilbert, as well as, two great grandchildren Oliver and Anastasia Gilbert. She is also survived by ten siblings, numerous nephews and nieces and their children whom she held dearly in her heart.
