Gregory Dean Lanier, 70, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on January 27, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on June 27, 1955, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Greg lived a life rooted in family and friendship.
Greg retired from ABF after a varied career in retail and distribution. He embraced the things that brought him joy—duck hunting at dawn, casting a line into quiet waters, and cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Ole Miss Rebels. However, his favorite teams were those that his son and grandson were a part of, often helping coach or cheering from the stands.
At the heart of Greg’s life was his family. He shared 45 years of marriage with his loving wife Lisa Lanier—a bond built on devotion and shared memories. Together they raised two children: their daughter Michelle Ecker and her husband Jake; and their son Kris Lanier and his wife Kimberly. Greg took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Ryan Ecker and his girlfriend Ellie; Carson Ecker; Briley and Carrigan Knowles; Kinsley Knowles and boyfriend Maddox; and as a great-grandfather to Hauston Dean Knowles.
He also held close ties with extended family members including his nephew Levin Thornton; siblings Cindy Hickey, Hank Moore, and Donnie Moore; sister-in-law Mona Rampy and her husband Chuck; brother-in-law Jack Thornton and his wife Connie. His circle of love extended beyond bloodlines to include many dear friends who enriched his life over the years.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents Boyce Lanier and Margaret Dean, as well as his parents-in-law Margaret and Billy Thornton.
Those who knew Greg will remember him as someone who was most himself when surrounded by those he loved. Whether sharing stories around a campfire or watching a game with family nearby, he found joy in connection and comfort in tradition.
May his memory be cherished by all who knew him.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2:30 P.M. under the direction of East Funeral Home Downtown at 602 Olive Street, Texarkana, TX 75501.
