

James Austin (Pappy) Kirby, 89, of Maud, TX went to be with Jesus on December 15, 2014 at his home. He was born on September 11, 1925 in Bowie County, TX. Mr Kirby tamed and trained horse and a farrier for over thirty years. he never met a stranger, he spoke to everyone. Mr. Kirby is a member of the First Bikers Church.
Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his wife Addie Lou Kirby, two sons, James and Lynn Kirby ,two daughters, Teresa Hughes and Sharon Marie Kirby and one great great granddaughter, Victoria Grace Walls, his parents Almus Joshua and Kassie Ella Kirby, brothers, Virgil Kirby and Curtis (Peanut) Kirby, one sister Thelma Tackett.
Survivors included daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Tommy Walls of Maud, TX; sons, Bryan Len Austin Walls of Redwater, TX and Raymond Edward Kirby of TX; Brother, A.J. Kirby of CA; sister, Shelba Jean Whiseant of Texarkana, TX; 7 grandchildren, James Lynn Kirby, Tommy Walls, Jr., Tamora Taylor, Jamie Barber, Chris Kirby, Terri Haltom and Ramona Kirby Johnson; 26 great-grandchildren, number of great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3:30pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at East Memorial Chapel-Downtown with Rev. Mathew Butler officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.
