I was just looking at old photos from Ecuador and thought I would look up an old friend that I have not seen since then, and this is what I found. So sorry that I was too late to touch base with Jim in our twilight years. I remember sitting beside Jim in a theater in Ambato watching the movie, "How the West was Won" in 1966. Jim would lean over and whisper in my ear what was going to come up next. He recognized the change in music when somebody was going to die, when the Indians would be coming over the edge of a mesa, etc.
Jim taught me how to play 'bridge'. He had his own deck of Braille cards that we played with. Just couldn't let him deal. He was just a wonderful guy.

I worked with Jim (and Katy) at Texas Employment Commission in the early 1990s.

Jim was a huge influence in my life. I was just out of the Air Force and was young and naive and I feel like he listened to me and guided me. I still think of things I learned from him nearly everyday. 

I’m sorry to hear that he is gone. He was a wonderful man. 

Jimmy and I were fast friends, way back when.  WE were going to have a pool tournament with another exception and gifted blind person, Jimmy Tullis.  Jimmy wrestled by sense of touch and was an Arkansas State wrestling champ.  Jimmy and I spent hours and hours discussing history.  We both loved history.  Jimmy was never at a lost for words, let me tell you.  He cheered me us so many times when I was down and feeling blue.  He did not waste a single day. I've known Jimmy since our childhood years at Liberty School.  
  
He will be undoubtedly be remembered for the countless number of people he inspired and influenced and for his many personal achievements.

I will miss an interesting, fun and personable guy, a long time friend of mine.

Jimmy, his Mother and sister Sherry were neighbors to the Bodine's when we lived on Page Street in Texarkana, Tx.  I remember Sherry being so sweet and helpful to Jimmy.  It was a pleasure seeing Jimmy at the Liberty Reunions.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Charlotte and family.  Love, Willene Bodine, Grand Prairie, Tx.

St. Jerome said, "Plato located the soul of man in the head; Christ located it in the heart." Cousin Jimmy had a beautiful soul and although we rarely saw each other after leaving for college his affection and interest for his cousins never wavered.  His place will stay fixed in our memories.  We were blessed in knowing him and having him among us.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family at this time of loss. May God Bless each one of you.

Jimmy did not let anything hold him back. I heard he used to like to water ski and I was amazed he could do that.

Jimmy and I went to school together at Liberty School and Liberty Eylau School.  He was a popular and fun person to know.  Life gave him some difficulties but he met each challenge head on.  He will be missed.

I remember Jimmy Martindale from my youth ball playing days. I recall a friend of his who used to always be with him to guide him in his teenage years. Can't recall  his name. My condolences to the family and I know Jimmy is now enjoying his new life where he will "see" forever!

I met James or Jimmy while I was attending Texas High. I remember that he was amazing and brilliant. I remember playing Bridge (Braille cards), Chess, Bowling and even shooting pool with Jimmy. He never let his Blindness hold him back. He was an inspiration to me. My deepest sympathy to the family.
