

James Dalton Martindale, 77, left this world on March 3, 2015 surrounded by friends and family. He was born January 28, 1938 in Texarkana, AR. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert Martindale and Mildred Helen Swanger, and one brother Carl Edward Martindale.
He was survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ron and Sherry Crider; his wife, Charlotte F. Martindale; his son, Hector James Martindale and daughter-in-law, Laura Martindale; three step-children, James Ward, Renee Hill and Shelly Baber; daughter, Amy Young and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was blinded at the age of 14 years old, but that did not stop him from living, "he lived large"!, graduating from Texas State (Go Longhorns) He served in the Peace Corp for 2 years in South America, to return to the States, getting a job with Texas Employment Service. He traveled from east to west coast many times. He will be sorely missed.
Service will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015 at East Memorial Chapel - Downtown with burial in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.
Family and friends are invited to Jim's home, Friday, March 6 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to celebrate his life - we will enjoy the wonderful life of an amazing man.
