James "Jim" Smith

James "Jim" Smith, 77, of Texarkana, AR passed away September 7, 2015 in a nursing facility in Texarkana, TX. Mr. Smith was born August 21, 1938 in Caney Community, AR. He was the owner of Fikes Truck Line, Inc. in Hope, AR and a meteorologist in the Navy. He was married to the love of his life, Hannah for 53 years. While in the U. S. Navy he was stationed in London, England, where he met Hannah. He was also stationed in Washington, D.C.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah Smith of Texarkana, AR; son, Stephen Smith of Texarkana; granddaughter, Sarah Smith of Austin, TX; sisters, Margaret Barham of Prescott, AR, Norma and Jim Harris of Kansas City, MO and Judy and Doug Cook of Alvin, TX; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m., Friday, September 11, 2015 at East Memorial Chapel - Moores Lane. Arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.
