Jimmy Joe Shumaker Jr.

Jimmy Joe Shumaker, Jr., 60, of Texarkana, TX , passed away August 2, 2014 in a Dallas, TX hospital. Mr. Shumaker was born September 3, 1953 in Texarkana, TX. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Moores Lane where he served as a Deacon and in the baptistry where he was assistant to Larry Sims. He started Children's Church at Beech Street Baptist Church. He was Manager at Heintschel Truck Tire Center. He was an avid Razorback fan and also played at the University of Arkansas; He was the #1 Fan of the UCA Bears.

He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Joe Shumaker, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Melinda Cobb Shumaker; mother, Gloria Shumaker; and brother, Rick Shumaker all of Texarkana; son, Ryan Cobb of Little Rock, AR; daughters, Cassie Cobb of Fayetteville, AR and Kristy Shumaker; and granddaughter, Talor Shumaker both of Maumelle, AR; plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Service will be 4 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at First Baptist Church - Moores Lane with Rev. Larry Sims and Jeff Shreve officiating. Private family burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church Atrium.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church for Baptistry robes and Bibles.
