Joanne Ruth Reavis (April 14, 1933 – September 8, 2020)

Her children arise and call her blessed…

Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Proverbs 31: 28a & 29-31

She was in this world, but not of this world and on September 8, 2020, she entered the gates of her eternal home when God called her according to His perfect timing. She spent much of her life serving our Savior through her prayers, witness, and teaching. She taught 4th grade Sunday School for 26 years at Beech Street First Baptist Church and also taught a senior ladies Sunday School Class at Highland Park Baptist Church. She led Bible study for seniors at a Texarkana nursing home from 2000-2010. She loved to buy gifts for her family, including her daughters and sons-in-law Nancy & Lee Maxwell and Cindy & Eduardo Torrealba, her sons and daughters-in-law David & Karen Reavis and Mark & Debbie Reavis, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed conducting estate sales for over 30 years and was a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan. She was blessed to live at the Retreat at Kenwood for her last year and to spend the last few days of her life in the loving care of Texarkana Hospice. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” 1 Thessalonians: 5:18.

Hey, all you dear "kids" who grew up with my bunch, sang together, prayed together--my heart is full. Joanne was a very special person who raised outstanding citizens, beloved by all. With deepest love, I wish I could be there.

Heaven has gained another dear soul. Our sweet Joanne was a gentle spirit who modeled the Christian walk. We are made better because she lived. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in the children whose lives she nurtured and molded. Thank you, Reavis family, for being a part of my life journey.

Mrs. Joanne was a gentle soft spoken lady. Always had a smile on her face. She always talked about her children and grandchildren. How proud she was. God got an angel in heaven. May God comfort your family.
