

Memommie was born on September 13, 1919, in Point Cedar, AR, to Jane Oliver and Rilbern Lee McClendon. She joined siblings Lillian, Velma, Willie, Olive, and later Alton and Earl. She married Burton Edward Oakley on November 20, 1937, in Mineral Springs, AR. The two were married for 54 years. Memommie lived in and around Texarkana, TX, for most of her adult life. She worked as a beloved babysitter for several very lucky children. She was a proud member of Northside Assembly of God Church until she moved to the DFW area to be closer to her children. She loved working her puzzles, watching Days of Our Lives and Walker, Texas Ranger, and any time spent with her family.
Memommie is survived by her son Perry Oakley, daughter-in-law Sara Oakley, son-in-law Mike Bodine, grandsons Barry Johnson and Michael Bodine and their families, granddaughters Michele McIntire, Kristi Barry and Keri Lockley and their families, Candy Lindsey and her family, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Kristen McCasland and her family, several very special nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Bobby Oakley, daughter Jimmie Musselwhite, husband Burton Oakley, and daughter Louise Bodine.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, March 27, at East Funeral Home, 2807 Moores Lane, Texarkana, TX 75503. Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, March 28, also at East Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Michele McIntire. Burial will be at East Memorial Gardens, 5200 E. Broad Street, Texarkana, AR 71854.
