Kathy Lynn Dodson of Texarkana, Arkansas passed away on August 5, 2017. Kathy was born on April 28, 1952 in Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Clarksville High School in Clarksville, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters Degree in clinical psychology from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. She was a psychological examiner for Northeast Texas MHMR Center for many years until becoming a mother and raising her two sons.

Kathy was extremely intelligent and a whiz in Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus and tutored many students in these subjects. She could somehow make the most difficult math equations fun for her students to solve.

She loved her family and friends and especially her five grandchildren. She was also a tremendous animal lover. She gave time and money to the Humane Society and over the years rescued too many stray dogs to count.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Joy Dodson, of Holly Lake Ranch, Big Sandy, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Bob Dodson of Texarkana, Arkansas; her son Robert Dodson, Jr. and his wife Katie Sutton Dodson of Becker, Texas; her son David Dodson of Texarkana, Arkansas; her brother Steve Dodson and his wife Charlene Dodson of Waxahachie, Texas; her brother in law and his wife, Dick and Cheryl Dodson of Texarkana, Arkansas; her father in law, Dr. Ed Dodson of Texarkana, Arkansas and five grandchildren: McKenna, Becker, Banks, Brady and Bryce Dodson.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at East Funeral Home, 2807 Moores Lane, Texarkana, Texas from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Interment will be on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Becker Family Cemetery in Becker, Texas, under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home.

I'm so saddened to hear of Kathy's passing! I'm so sorry for your loss and the whole family is in my thoughts and prayers! I haven't seen her in over 10 years, but we were great friends for lots of years and excercised together at Minton's. She was so much fun and I treasure the many fun times we had together! She was an awesome and unique lady who had a heart of gold! Once again, my condolences to you all during this time of grieving and loss!

Kathy was a kind and sweet person. I'm really sad to know she is gone but I know she made a positive impact on a lot of lives both human and those with paws. The positive ripples she created in the fabric of life will go on forever. Bob, Robert, David and extended family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Kathy and I were quite close friends in the early 80s, and I adored her. My condolences Bob, Robert Jr. and Katie, and David, for your loss. And also to her five grandchildren. The last time I saw her, Robert Jr., you were about 5 and heading to ball or soccer practice, and I think David was already in the car. Your mama looked beautiful, as she always did. Memories I have with her are a treasure. She was a lot of fun, and had the gift of bringing out the best in people. She will be missed by many.
