Linda was born March 7, 1942 in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Charles Nicholas Stropeni and Lyndell Cecilia Sorsby Stropeni. She grew up in Texarkana, attending Sacred Heart Catholic School during her elementary school years and then Pine Street Junior High and Texas High School. She graduated from Texas High School in 1960. She attended Texarkana College and then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1964. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. Upon graduation from college she accepted a position as a systems analyst with Sperry Rand, stationed at NASA, in Houston, Texas. She subsequently transferred to Day & Zimmerman in Texarkana, where she worked until 1970.
On April 15, 1967 Linda married Edward Randle Hanna. They raised two children, Mary Cecilia and Charles Randle, in Texarkana and were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also a member of the University Women’s Club, which she enjoyed. She was a devoted mother, wife, daughter and sister. She loved music and she loved to laugh. She maintained her sense of humor and her kindness despite life’s challenges.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister, Margaret Ann Stropeni Sisk. Survivors include her sister, Nancy Elizabeth Stropeni, of Dallas and Texarkana; her daughter, Mary Cecilia Hanna, of Dallas; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Randle and Heather Lyn Ogea Hanna, of Spring; two grandchildren, Conor Nathaniel Hanna and Hayden Randle Hanna, of Spring; two nieces; six nephews; a number of other relatives; and many friends.
The family wishes to thank DaVita Texarkana Regional Dialysis, Hospice of Texarkana, and the healthcare professionals, caregivers, family members and friends for their care and compassion over the years.
Rosary will be held at 7pm Friday, March 28, 2014 at East Funeral Home - Moores Lane, Texarkana, with visitation to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Texarkana, with the Reverend Michael Adams officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of East Funeral Home – Moores Lane.
