Marilyn Rose Ronan

August 6, 1921April 25, 2020

Marilyn Ronan of Texarkana passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 25, 2020. She was 98 years old. Born in Newark, New Jersey to Dennis and Mary McGrath Mollahan, she spent all of her working years in New Jersey. She moved with her husband to Florida upon their retirements and enjoyed another 20 years there with her husband, Paul. Mrs. Ronan was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Paul R. Ronan of Bayonet Point, Florida.

Marilyn had an amazing career with State Farm Insurance at their regional headquarters in Wayne, New Jersey. She started work as a code assigner in 1960. She was promoted several times over the course of her career and was the first woman Senior Underwriter in the history of the company. When she retired after nearly 30 years she was the highest paid Senior Underwriter in the company. Four people were assigned to cover the work she had done for the last 20 years of her career. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Paul J. Ronan of Mexico City, Mexico, Kevin Ronan of West Milford, NJ, Rose Mollahan Delaney of Atlanta, Georgia, seven grandchildren: Kyle, Collin, Nicole, Kevin, Brooke, Chelsea, Katie, and Meghan, as well as four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews across the U.S. in New York, New Jersey, Missouri, Texas, Illinois and California and Mexico City, Mexico. She was greatly loved by her family and all who knew her.

Given the current recommendations from the CDC and our family's interest in the public health, there will be no formal funeral or memorial at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Texarkana would be appreciated.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.
