Mary Christine Cater Tinsley

She was born on July 17, 1920 in Taylor, Arkansas to William Benton and Iva Mae Cater. She was a graduate of Ida, Louisiana High School and Draughn Business College in Shreveport. For a number of years, she worked as a bookkeeper for a local department store and was a homemaker. She was a devoted Christian and member of Beech Street First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Benton Cater, Jr. and sister Goldie Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 66 years Jessie Tinsley, son Benny Tinsley and wife Johnette, daughter Prissy Hickerson and husband Randy. Grandchildren Chuck Tinsley and Todd Tinsley of Long Beach, Miss., Chris Hickerson and wife Stephanie of Texarkana, TX, Susan Tinsley of Carrollton, TX, Caroline Tinsley of Austin, TX, 5 great granddaughters, Sarah, Emma, Reagan, and Carly Hickerson and Lakelyn Tinsley, nephew Marty Cater and wife Susan and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2pm Tuesday, January 31, 2011 at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane with Rev. Richard Posey officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30pm Monday January 30, 2012 at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.
