

Mike was a devoted and loving husband for 37 years to his wife, Desiree Kaye Smith of Morrilton, Arkansas and Texarkana, TX. Together they managed radio stations throughout the south for over 20 years. He was a graduate of Mississippi State and member of the Army National Guard. Mike later joined the Arkansas Department of Corrections, and he was very proud to serve his community.
He was a quiet spoken man of few words, but he was smart, intuitive, and very empathetic of the needs of others. Mike loved to play golf, ride horses, ride his lawn mower, four-wheeling, and camping by the river or driving his boat on the lake.
Mike is survived by his two step sons, Clay Edwards of Chicago, IL, and three grandchildren Ann Shanebrook Edwards, Enver Shanebrook Edwards, and Remy Edwards. Also, Jason Edwards, grandson Aiden Edwards of North Little Rock, his biological son, Jason Tyrone and his wife Suzanne, three grandsons and two great grandsons of Valdosta, Georgia , his sister and brother law, Kathy and Ronnie Morris of Greenwood, MS., nieces Alecia Morris of Greenwood and Andrea Upchurch and her husband Channing of Carrollton, MS and great nephew Logan Upchurch of Carrollton MS.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents: Ray and Lucille Smith of Brookhaven, MS and several Aunts and Uncles.
Mike made friends wherever he went. His sister and brother-in-law and countless friends loved him deeply and his gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
