Nancy Evans White
July 2, 1930 – June 13, 2020
Nancy Louella Evans White passed away on June13, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Eugene and Thelma Brian Evans and one sister Shirley Evans Kelly all of White Deer, Texas, and her husband Dr. Lonnie Joe White of Texarkana, Texas. Nancy was born on July 2, 1930 in Canadian, Texas. She graduated from White Deer High School, earned a B.S. degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas and a M.Ed. degree from the University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University) in Memphis, Tennessee. She taught school for 25 years at Miami (Texas) High School and Memphis City Schools. She was a member of the National Education Association and the Tennessee Education Association. She was named teacher of the year, and was listed in Marquis Who’s Who Among American Women and Marquis Who’s Who Biographical Record – Child Development Professionals. Nancy was a member of First Baptist Church, Moores Lane, and was an active member of the Grace Sunday School Class. Nancy is survived by one brother, Brian Edward Evans of White Deer, Texas, two sisters Carolyn Evans Carpenter and Barbara Evans Browning, both of Plainview, Texas, one son Dr. John Evans White and the mother of his children Caryn Elaine Tepe White of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one daughter and son-in-law Brenda Jo White and Dr. Steven Wayne Holman of Texarkana, Texas, six grandchildren John Alexander White and Suzanne Evelyn White of Houston, Texas, James Edward White of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jennifer Nicole Holman and husband David Alan Letz of College Station, Texas, Dustin White and Wife Cailey Renee Daniels Holman of Seattle, Washington, Michelle Anne Holman of Brooklyn, New York, and four great-grandchildren Elizabeth Anne, David Andrew, Rebekah Jo, and Sarah Nicole Letz all of College Station, Texas. Funeral arrangements will be handled by East Funeral Home, Moores Lane. Due the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation, with an immediate-family only gravesite service to be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Larry Sims officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tennessee or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. White's Family-
I really enjoyed getting to know Mrs. White during her time at Waterton. She was good friends with my mom, Barbara Weeks, at Sunday School. I was saddened to learn of her passing away. You are in my prayers.
