Patsy Marie Foley Raschke peacefully passed into the arms of God on Monday, May 11, 2015. Although her family and friends are saddened by her passing, we are comforted in knowing that her mind and body are whole again in her new heavenly home.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Raschke. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cindy Raschke of Victoria, TX; two daughters and sons-in–law, Vicki and Dennis Lewis of Texarkana, AR, and Paula and Jerry Black of Lake Dallas, TX; five granddaughters, Julie Byrd, Whitney Hall, Mallory Raschke, Carrie Duncan, and Olivia Wells; and three great-grandchildren Lilyanne Duncan, Willow Duncan, and Avalie Byrd. She was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Foley and one sister, Ruth Anderson.
Born April 9, 1933, in Spring Hill, AR, to Mike and Edna Keel Foley, Patsy graduated from Spring Hill High School. In 1950, Patsy married Paul, making their home first in Dallas, TX, then Hope, AR, Clarksville, TX, and finally settling in Texarkana, AR. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on November 25, 2012. They enjoyed many activities together, including playing dominoes with family and friends, camping and traveling throughout Arkansas, and dancing—even when they were the only couple on the floor or there was no dance floor.
A member of Central Baptist Church, Patsy never met a stranger, enjoyed life, and took advantage of every opportunity to have a good time. One of her favorite things was dressing up on Halloween. Whether she was dressed as a clown with full make-up and a rainbow wig or a little old lady with a bonnet and cane, she enjoyed making others laugh. Her love of flowers was evident from the many varieties that she grew and cared for in her yard. Patsy was a very talented seamstress and could make anything. She was also an excellent cook and loved to bake. Her daughters and granddaughters spent many hours trying to record her recipes that included directions such as “stir until it looks right” or “add enough flour until it feels right”.
Family was important to Patsy, and her granddaughters were very special to her. “Nana” was proud of their accomplishments and always talked about how smart and beautiful they were.
Patsy retired from Southwest Title Company after many years of service and had previously worked in the office of the Miller County Circuit Clerk. She was also a Mary Kay Consultant and after retirement she enjoyed working the voting polls on election days.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful friend—Patsy was a spirited lady who was special to many people and will be missed by all.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2015 at East Memorial Chapel-Moores Lane with Rev. Kenneth Bobo and Rev. Phillip Dunn officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.
