

Paul D. " Dave " Bigbee died on April 24, 2025 after complications of a fall. Dave was born on June 6, 1948 in Hamilton, Texas to Grady and Velma Bigbee. He is survived by his wife the love of his life for 47 years, Marian, a son, Sean Bigbee, a daughter and son-in-law Andrea Adcock and Jonathan Fretwell and a Special Sister, Nancy Morris, all of Texarkana. He is also survived by one brother, Edd Bigbee in Salado, Texas and one brother-in-law John Morris and nephew, Ethan Morris and several nieces and nephews. Dave was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Texarkana, Ar.

Dave grew up and graduated from Hobbs, New Mexico High School and earned both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Eastern New Mexico University. Following graduation, he served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps on active duty from 1972 through 1975 and in the reserves until 1980. He taught biology at New Mexico Junior College from 1975 - 1980. At that time , he became a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and retired from that organization in 2000. While there, he served as a Criminal Investigator in the Albuquerque, New Mexico and Fort Myers, Florida offices. He then was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent a the FBI Laboratory in Washington D.C. as a serology examiner. He served four years as an Instructor at the FBI Academy and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Virginia. During that period, he was awarded the U.S. Attorney General's Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement, the University of Virginia Thomas Jefferson Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement Education, and the Outstanding Alumni Award from Eastern New Mexico University. He then served as Chief of the DNA Analysis Unity in the FBI Laboratory. He was transferred to the Miami office where he was the Special Agent in Charge of the Violent Crimes/Fugitive Task Force for South Florida and the Caribbean. He was transferred to the Dallas office when he served as a member of the Dallas High Intensity Drug Area Task Force. Following his FBI Career, Dave served as the Law Enforcement Coordinator for the Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas Police Departments and the Bowie County and Miller County Sheriff's Office.
Dave was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the FBI Agents Association, the Former Special Agents of the FBI Association, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, May 10th, 2025 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Michael Daugherty officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday May 9th, 2025 at East Funeral Home-Downtown.
