Heinz Paul Stenzel, 84 of Texarkana, TX passed June 10, 2010 at his home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Mr. Stenzel was born June 4, 1926 in Butow, Germany to Karl and Anna Stenzel He was a member of Williams Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Christian Adult Sunday School Class for over 50 years. He served in the German Air Force.
He came to the United States in 1950 with nothing but ambition, commitment to hard work and a dream. This was before small business loans, government grants, subsidies and the like. You were on your own. After apprenticing for one of the first refrigeration companies in Texarkana and with their blessing, he borrowed $100 from a local business man that believed in his potential and opened what was then a novel business - one of the first full service heating and air companies in Texarkana. That was 1960. Paul along with his sons, Eddy and Karl celebrated the 50th business anniversary this spring. Karl and Eddy plan to honor their father by carrying on the business with his ideals.
Mr. Stenzel never forgot the generosity that was extended to him as an immigrant when he came to the Untied States. He continued to repay the favor by sponsoring immigrant families through Williams Memorial UMC. He was always ready to help those in need. He worked through the church to give opportunities to anyone willing to work, employing many in his business. His strong faith in God saw him through many difficulties in his life. His family was his purpose, first and foremost. During his illness, his family remained the focus of his strength. He attended church until he was no longer able, and continued serving the Lord until he went home to be with Him.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Eddy and Bonnie Stenzel of Nash, TX and Karl Stenzel of Texarkana, TX; brother, Hans Stenzel of San Bernardino, CA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Peggy Roberts of Texarkana, TX; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Katie and Pittman Tims of Texarkana, TX and Raechel and Dustin Pugh of Nash, TX; great granddaughter, Shyanne Tims of Texarkana, TX; and special friend, Gerta Rogoc of Texarkana, AR.
