Peggie Sue Honea, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away from this earthly life on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at her home in Texarkana, Texas. She was born May 3, 1929 in Pittsburg, Texas. She was retired from Day and Zimmerman.
She deeply loved her church family and was a faithful member of the Bible Missionary Church. She was known as “Ms. Peggie” or “Sister Peggie” to many.
Sister Peggie was a selfless, forgiving, loving and caring person to everyone who was lucky enough to have crossed her path. She was a born caregiver – welcoming many into her home over the years and always putting others before herself. She cared for many family members – starting with her youngest sister Margaret when their own mother was ill, her mother-in-law during the earlier years of her marriage and her husband J.W. who was sick and unable to work for many years. She and her husband also welcomed others into their home over the years including her niece Ruth from Arizona and her brother-in-law Jewell. Finally later in life – she helped care for both of her parents, Paul and Effie Reynolds. In her later years while in her 70’s, she lived with her granddaughter Tracie and her husband Chad and took care of their two three year old daughters so Tracie could attend nursing school. She also welcomed her granddaughter Tosha into her home in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. who passed away in 1984. She and J.W. – along with many other family members - are surely having a joyous reunion in heaven!
Sister Peggie is survived by her daughter Debbie Burk and husband Rodney of Texarkana, Texas, and her son James Honea and wife Linda of Whitney, Texas. She was the beloved grandmother to Tracie Seely and husband Chad of Haskill, Arkansas, Tosha Norris and Brittney Burk of Texarkana, Texas, son-in-law Leroy Norris of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Cherish Mason and husband Alan of Whitney Texas - and step-grandchildren, Chris Burk and wife Marlene of Bodcow, Arkansas, and Brenda McKee and husband Clint of Hamilton, Texas. She was the adoring great- grandmother to Hannah, Kaylee, Lucas and Landon Seely, Colby Leatherwood, Leroy Norris, Jr. , Keely Craig, Hailey and Riley Mason, Brandon and Elizabeth Burk, and Megan and Clint Watson, and Chelsea Akin. She is also survived by sisters Maggie Little of Nacogdoches, Texas, Jo Delaney of Jacksonville, Texas, Louise Baird of Atlanta, Texas, Margaret Ritter and husband Ernie of Lantana, Texas - and by a brother David Reynolds and wife June of White Oak, Texas – and by a sister-in-law Pauline Fincher and brother-in-law Jewell Honea – both of Texarkana, Arkansas – and by many nieces and nephews - and a host of friends.
Words cannot express the loss that her family feels at this time - and will feel for the rest of their lives. There will always be an empty spot in their life. One thing that we all know for certain though – and can take comfort in - is that at our loss - Heaven has gained one very special angel!!!!!
