

Perry O’Neal (Neal) Courtney, 87, of Texarkana, Texas died Monday, January 05, 2015, in a local hospital. Neal was born November 11, 1927 to Perry and Rose Bud Courtney in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was owner of Courtney Feed & Supply for 50 years. Neal was married to his wife, Winnie, for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Courtney, and brother, Norvel Courtney.
Neal was a graduate of Liberty High School and Texas High School; member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Texarkana; Mayor of Texarkana, TX (1964-1968); member of the Texarkana, Texas City Council; President of the Four States Fair Association; member of the Board at TEXAR Federal Credit Union, where he served one term as Chairman; President of the Red River Cattleman’s Association; was awarded Distinguished Alumnus of Liberty Eylau, and served on Texas Governor John Connally’s Advisory Council.
Survivors include his wife, Winnie Courtney of Texarkana; daughter, Lisa Liles of Texarkana; daughter and son in law, Peri and Mark Sprague of Houston TX; daughter in law, Karen Courtney of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Michaelyn Liles and Jordan Liles of Texarkana, Tyler Courtney and Lindsay Courtney of Flower Mound, TX; and brother and sister in law, Clyde and Debbie Courtney, of Texarkana.
Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 3015 Moores Lane, Texarkana, TX with Dr. Terry Land and Rev. Larry Sims officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2014 at First Baptist Church Atrium, 3015 Moores Lane, Texarkana, TX.
