Rick passed away at home on February 21, 2013. Rick grew up in Union Bower, which later was incorporated into Irving , Texas. Rick often talked about the solidarity of his neighbors and how they looked after each other, especially the Pete Harris family. He held his first job as a dishwasher in the neighborhood dinner.
Rick worked as a pipe fitter's helper in Dallas, Texas and around Houston at a Nuclear Power Plant. He loved to tell stories of Wormy, the welder. He was a former co-owner of Unk's Vac Service, in Hooks Texas. He also owned the River Rat Rick's Lawn Service in Dallas, Texas until disabilities from diabetes closed him down.
Rick loved life, he was a diamond in the rough, a rolling stone that gathered no moss just people he loved and loved him. He made the best of every situation, even when his kidneys failed and he started dialysis, he tried to keep everyone upbeat. He led the "Chinaberry Uprising" at the dialysis center, where he instigated other patients to playfully throw berries at the nurses. He knew how to make people laughs and forget their situation for a little time.
In 1983, after apprenticing for 1 1/2 years, he became Banshee Lil Rick, in the Banshee Motorcycle Club, at the Dallas Texas Chapter. Over the years, he held various positions, National President, National Sargent of Arms, and President of the Dallas Chapter, which at the time was located in Irving, Texas. During his years as a Banshee, he earned respect throughout the biker nation. He was known for doing what ever was needed to be done in order to get the job done or situation handled.
He will be missed by those who loved him and those who don't will be sighing a breath of relief to his passing.
No one will miss him more than his Soul mate, Cecily "Butterfly", whom he met at the age of ten in a pecan orchard in Dallas, Texas.
He treasured his kids, Xaviera, Derek, and Elizabeth. No words could describe the love he held for them.
Known as Grandpa Rick to Christopher, Julien, Alexis, Tammie (Velli), Justin (Bonnie), Destin, Rease, Sophia, Kaylee, Ava, Eilam, and Landon. They will remember mostly his pancakes. Unfortunately, soon to be born, Isabella will not meet his smile.
Veronica Washington (his other mother), has lost her football game foe. They placed bets every year on the Dallas Cowboys scores. This past season, he finally won.
When he could, he enjoyed the company of his "other brother" Gaylord, his wife Karon Washington, and their children, Ashley and Ryan.
He loved his Son in law, Sithat, and appreciated how he took care of his daughter, Elizabeth and their children. Also for all the selfless things, Sithat did for him.
Rick never forgot his former daughter in laws, Lindsey and Molly. He has watched Lindsey grow up from the time she was fourteen until now.
He also took very good care of his sister, Debbie and her daughters Chrystal and Angie, his brother , Billy and especially his mother Hattie, before and after his father's death.
He loved his Banshee Biker Brothers. He always had their back and they his, no matter what. He also loved his other Brothers in other clubs; Blackhawks, Ghost Riders, Scorpions, Swamp Riders, Fukowees, and Dwight's Bikers Dream.
We love you and will miss you, but you are in a better place surrounded by love ones, including your biker brothers and sisters. I can see you now..whole..riding someone's Harley in the wind, with a smile on your face. See you on the other side.
