Rosaland M. Shaw passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in a local hospital. She was born in Dierks, Arkansas, on October 26, 1923, to Sylvester R. Shute and Anna Pettus Shute. Rosaland attended school in Dierks and Henderson State Teachers College. She married Vernon Shaw in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on January 6, 1948. In the mid-1950’s, she and Vernon moved to DeKalb, Texas, where they operated Shaw’s Piggly Wiggly, until retirement in the early 1980’s. She and Vernon lived the remainder of their lives in Texarkana, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church-Moores Lane.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, James Roy Shute and Hiram Shute and a daughter-in-law Elisabeth Shaw.
Survivors include her son, Nelson Shaw and his wife, Cheryl of Texarkana, Arkansas; grandchildren Amy Dougherty of Little Rock, Arkansas, John Shaw and his wife, Casey, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Nathan Shaw and his fiancé, Kenleigh Johnson, of Rogers, Arkansas, Katelyn Collins of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Cody Collins of Williston, North Dakota; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Penn, and Eleanor Dougherty, Miles and Merritt Shaw, Cypress and Edyn Collins, Ethan Langston and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 o’clock p.m. on January 2, 2020 at Ringwood Cemetery, New Boston, Texas officiated by Rev. Larry Sims.
