Her children arise up, and call her blessed… Proverbs 31:28
Sheree Denave Mahan Haynes of Texarkana, Arkansas, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, February 2, 2013, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Thousands of children can arise and call Sheree Haynes blessed. During her tenure of thirty-three years as an educator, Sheree touched the lives of hundreds of families across the Texarkana and southern Arkansas region.
She was a beloved teacher, teaching in the Fouke school system at many levels, but her passion was in the needs of her students in Special Education classes.
Sheree is survived by two daughters: Miranda Christine Haynes McClaran and her husband, Ronnie Jo McClaran, of New Boston, Texas, and Shayla Sheree Haynes Fisk and her husband, Joseph Trey Fisk, and their children, Avenley Grace Sheree’ and Kynslee Jo, of Texarkana, Arkansas.
Sheree is also survived by her sister, Regina Mahan Markham, her niece, Autumn Moon, and nephews Daniel and Matthew Mahan. She is also survived by her friend, James Woodrow Haynes, who was her husband for 23 years.
Sheree was born into a military family in Japan on May 24, 1956. Her parents, Martin and Mary Christine Griffin Mahan, moved to Hawaii, where Sheree started school, then to Arkansas. Sheree attended Texarkana Arkansas schools, then obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education from East Texas State University-Texarkana. She completed her Masters degree in Special Education at Southern Arkansas University in 2009.
Sheree was a member of the Arkansas Education Association, the National Education Association, and The Council of Exceptional Children. She taught Sunday School for many years in the pre-school of Beech Street First Baptist Church, and she was on the staff of the church nursery and a volunteer in children’s activities.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Beech Street First Baptist Church. Pastor Craig Jenkins will officiate the service. Visitation with her family will be at Beech Street First Baptist Church on Friday, February 8, from six until eight p.m.
Sheree’s love of children, her special quality of friendship, and her wonderful relationship with her many students will ‘cause her children to arise up and call her blessed.’
