Steve G. Lach Jr.

Steve G. Lach Jr., age 77, of Texarkana, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. Mr. Lach was born on December 7, 1946 in Many, Louisiana. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting, fishing and training his Labrador retrievers so they could compete with some of the finest HRC & AKC hunt test dogs in the country.

Preceded in death by his parents, Steve Sr. and Edna Lach, and his brother Mike Lach.

Mr. Lach grew up attending St. Edwards Catholic School and was an alter boy at St. Edwards church. He obtained a Degree in Engineering while studying at Texarkana College. He served in the Vietnam War as a crew chief for the United States Army. He was rewarded many medals that include, a Good Conduct medal, National Defense service medal, Bronze Star medal, Sharpshooter badge (M-14), Silver star medal, two Purple Hearts, Aircraft Crewmen's badge, Vietnam Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, two Overseas Service bars, Air medal W/46 Oak Leaf Cluster.

Steve retired from Cooper Tire after 43 years. He was a member of the Texarkana Bass Club. He was also an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Four States Retriever Club and was recently presented with their Crystal Award.

Survived by his wife Kathy Lach; children, Chris and Jamie Harris, Angie and Chris Harvin, Bryan and Kim Lach, Craig and Raney Lach, Phillip and Caitlin Huckabee, Kathryn and Dalton Hatfield; grandchildren, Cole Harris, Jackson Harris, Hallie Harris, Jaci Harvin, Trent Lach, Chase Lach, Lakenn Lach, Maggie McWilliams, Morgan Lach, Ainsley Huckabee, Noah Walston, Erin Hatfield; and two great grandchildren, Zellie and Hutch Harris.

The visitation will be 6pm to 8pm on August 19, 2024 at East Funeral Home on Moores Lane. The funeral will be held at 10am August 20, 2024 at East Memorial Chapel with Matt Graves and Glen Scarborough officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Texarkana.
