Sydney Jayne Manson

Sydney Jayne Manson, age 78, of Wake Village, Texas passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023. Sydney was born November 10, 1944 in Texarkana, AR. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Wake Village, TX and a member of Bible Study Friends for 17 years.

Sydney was a lifelong homemaker and an excellent cook. Being a good Christian and mother was her guiding light. Her children's lunch boxes were the envy of all the other kids at Wake Village Elementary. Her Halloween buffets and treats were legendary, and she looked forward to seeing over 300 trick-or-treaters every year. She taught Sunday school for more than 30 years, served as the church secretary and played the piano beautifully. She loved to garden and earned Yard of the Month and sewed dozens of dance costumes for Leah, Anna, and Carly. She and George were lifelong sports fans, and especially loved watching their boys play baseball. Her favorite teams were the Texas Rangers and the Arkansas Razorbacks. When it came to the domestic, Sydney did nothing halfway. Handmade party favors, birthday cakes from scratch and always fresh cookies for Matt and Paul. She never missed a ball game or a dance recital, and except for a short break she picked up children and grandchildren from school for over 35 years. Easter celebrations were so epic that Nick, Jacob and Cody would hang out and dye eggs even as teenagers. And nothing would light up her smile more than seeing her first great-granddaughter, Blake Renie. Her grandchildren loved their Mamoo immensely and will never forget her unconditional love. She was a very special mother and an extraordinary grandmother and will be terribly missed. Woo Pig Sooie!

Sydney was preceded in death by her husband, George Manson, III and her son, Todd Manson.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Leah and Paul Mackey and Anna Manson and Matt Singleton; brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Ann Luckett of Spring, TX; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Melissa Nash , Jim Manson and Jules Manson; five grandchildren, Nick and Karen Barber, Carly Manson and Nick Anderson, Cody and Kaylee Manson and Jacob Barber and Jeremy Green; and one great grandchild, Blake Manson.

Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2023 at East Memorial Chapel - Downtown with Rev. Stephen Burris and Rev. Mike Powell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Baptist Church 621 MacArthur Avenue,Wake Village, Texas 75501.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Barber, Jacob Barber, Cody Manson, Nick Anderson, Matt Singleton and Paul Mackey.
