Virginia Louise Hendrickson

Virginia L. (Sims) Hendrickson, age 93, of Texarkana, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 2, 2023. She was born on August 15, 1929, in Franklin Co., Texas, to the late Alton H. and Curtie (Miller) Sims. Virginia was baptized into the Christian faith at the Church of Christ in the Rockhill Community near Mt. Vernon, Texas, where her father was the minister. On June 4, 1948, Virginia was joined in marriage with the late John Hendrickson, Jr. They were married for 54 years before his death in 2002. Virginia was a long-time member of Walnut Church of Christ, working in the Junior Department and Christian Preschool. She also enjoyed volunteering in PTA and was a supporter of both Girl and Boy Scouting in the Texarkana area. Throughout her life, Virginia enjoyed time with family and friends, vacationing, traveling and caring for her home.

Virginia is survived by her two children: her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert Brandon of Appleton, WI., her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Keyna Hendrickson, of Texarkana; her three grandchildren, Neil (Sara) Brandon and Meredith (Michael) Ulman, all of Appleton, WI.; Matthew Hendrickson, of Austin, TX.; her step granddaughter, Ariana Hines and step grandson, Daniel Hines, of Texarkana, as well as six great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 3pm Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Rockhill Cemetery located near Mt. Vernon, Texas. This cemetery adjoins the land where Virginia was born and lived as a child and where four generations of her family are buried. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Walnut Church of Christ Christian Preschool or the charity of your choice.

Family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm Friday, January 6, 2023 at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.
