Vivian Barker

Vivian Barker was born in Fouke, Arkansas, on July 19, 1942. She grew up attending Pisgah Baptist Church in Fouke, where her faith first took root. As an adult, she and her husband, John David, faithfully attended First Baptist Church, where they raised their children.

Vivian worked for the Fouke School District for many years, eventually serving as the secretary to the Superintendent. While she took great pride in her work, her greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and later, grandmother.

She had a passion for cooking, sewing, fishing, and camping. She loved to laugh, treasured every moment spent with her family, and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. Known as the peacemaker of the family, Vivian lived out the fruits of the Spirit each day through her kindness, patience, gentleness, and unwavering love for others.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, John David Barker, her son, David Ray Barker and grandson, Colton Barker.

She is survived by three daughters and three son-in-law‘s. Tammy and Phil Peavy of Fouke, Arkansas, Tracey and Robert Wardlaw of Texarkana, Texas, Teena and Kirk Duff of Bullard, Texas, one daughter-in-law, Lisa Barker, twelve grandchildren, Nichole and Rusty Bulkley, Lacie and Jonathan Hyman, Brandon and Amber Alford, Tiffany Peavy, Nicholas and Alise Alford, Sheena Nottingham, Hunter and Lauren Barker, Kaylin and William Burns, Aaron and Kaylea Wardlaw, Austin and Chloe Wardlaw, Chris Duff, Matt And Melissa Duff; twenty seven great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Holt officiating. Burial will be at Independence cemetery on the direction of East Funeral Home, Texas.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the caregivers during her time of need from Heritage Hospice and The Villa in Texarkana.
