Mr. Mitchell was born February 12, 1952 in Clarksville, Texas to William and Margaret Mitchell. His family moved to Arizona and when he was 12 he returned to Clarksville, Texas.
MSG Mitchell served 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Munitions Systems Superintendent. During his time he earned many medals and awards. He spent alot of time at different areas overseas. He served from August 1990 until January 1994 in support of Desert Shield/Storm in area of responsibility.
After retiring from the Air Force in October 1994 he moved to Texarkana, Texas. He continued to work as a mechanic and also took Electronics and Air Conditioning classes at Texarkana College.
Walter Mitchell was a very talented musician and enjoyed so much of his time playing music with all of his friends and the local band " Country Breeze "
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret Mitchell, 2 brothers Tommy and Ross Mitchell and a son Jason Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years Valerie Mitchell; 3 sisters; Delmaya Austin of Mesquite, Texas., Nadine Leffel of Clarksville, Texas., and Regina Drybread of Bisbee, Arizona.
Also left to cherish his memory is his son Chris Smith of Detroit, Texas and daughters Sundae Noah of Washington, Massachusetts and Patricia Russell and Ashley Mitchell of Peoria, Illinois.
